Declaration on the 70th anniversary of the victory of freedom against fascist tyranny
May 8 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of freedom over fascist tyranny in Europe. It was achieved by an alliance of the peoples of the Soviet Union, Britain, USA, France and the communist-led resistance forces across Europe, China and south-east Asia.
The toll was on a scale never experienced before. Soldiers died by the million, but it was civilians who bore the greatest losses. The bestiality of the Nazis and their allies has left its stain on human history forever. Every school child can link Hitlerism to what is today, maybe too simply, described as the "Holocaust". In the Soviet Union and among the Jewish communities of the Baltic States and Eastern Europe, in particular, tens of millions of innocents perished. These systematic killings across Europe included the disabled, those stigmatized for their sexual orientation and ethnic minority communities such as the Roma. We must ensure that future generations of young people do not forget such monstrous crimes.
The 1920s and 1930s had sounded the alarm. Aided and encouraged by capitalist ruling classes across Europe, fascism took the offensive against democracy and peace, and sought to encircle and destroy the first workers’ state in the Soviet Union.
History will not forget the fascist coup in Rome, the fraudulent Reichstag fire, the invasion and gassing of Abyssinia, the fascist putsch in Spain nor the betrayal at Munich. Throughout the 1930s, the communists struggled to gather together those honest, decent, brave and democratically minded forces which alone could stem the tide of barbarism.
Victory resulted from sacrifice on the home and war fronts, on land, sea and in the air, and in the factories, cities and forests wherever resistance gathered. This is how we remember the victory: as a triumph of life over death and an affirmation of the vitality of democracy, led by the working people and their allies.
At Nuremburg the world condemned fascism. The phrase “Never Again” found a popular echo. The year 1945 marked a decisive shift in favor of progress and against the forces of reaction. The defeat of fascism and nazism and the determining role played in these times by the Soviet Union had an immense impact on the democratic forces and on the peoples who, in the whole world, were fighting against colonialism and imperialism. A united World Federation of Trade Unions was formed alongside the new United Nations. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was widely embraced.
We, the signatory communist parties of Russia, Britain, France, USA and Germany, restate our pride in the heroic sacrifice of our members and supporters who staffed the front ranks of the struggle. The communists were the first to be tortured in concentration camps, they were among the first to volunteer to fight in the valleys of Spain and, as at Stalingrad, when they were most needed they took “not one step back!”.
Seventy years on, fascism and racism are on the march again. There are provocateurs agitating to rewrite the history of the war so that they can redraw present-day geographical borders. In this, NATO warlords encourage them.
The same ruling classes that appeased and collaborated with fascism before and during the Second World War today assert an equivalence between communism and fascism.
There are powerful forces in ruling circles who wish to see modern day Russia surrounded and isolated. In Ukraine, it is specifically the massacre of trade unionists in Odessa that very clearly showed how the USA, the European Union and the NATO relied on the anticommunist, ultranationalist and neo-fascist movements in their confrontation with Russia.
Much of this is to divert attention from capitalism’s chronic failure to meet the employment, health, housing, education and other social needs of new generations. Everywhere, the sovereignty of the people is challenged, with millions uprooted and driven across continents in a desperate search for peace, work and security.
So the communists come forward again to warn of the mortal dangers posed by a capitalist system in crisis. The social and political gains won in the wake of 1945 are being attacked and rolled back. The peoples of Europe must, once again, be vigilant and prepared to combat the chauvinism, racism, fascism and militarism which breed in conditions of capitalist crisis and austerity.
We call all the democratic, progressive and peaceful forces, the working people across Europe, who fight for peace, social justice and for freedom over tyranny, to play their part in this historic struggle for a new and just social order, for socialism.

Erklärung zum 70. Jahrestag des Sieges der Freiheit gegen die faschistische Tyrannei
Der 8. Mai 2015 ist der 70. Jahrestag des Sieges der Freiheit über die faschistische Gewaltherrschaft in Europa. Er wurde errungen durch das Bündnis der Völker der Sowjetunion, Großbritanniens, der USA, Frankreichs und der kommunistisch geführten Widerstandskräfte in Europa, China und Südostasien.
Der Sieg forderte Opfer in einem bis dahin unbekannten Maß. Abermillionen Soldaten starben, doch die Zivilbevölkerung beklagte die größten Verluste. Die Bestialität der Nazis und ihrer Verbündeten ist ein ewiges Schandmal in der Menschheitsgeschichte. Jedes Schulkind bringt den Hitlerfaschismus mit dem in Zusammenhang, was heute – vielleicht zu vereinfacht - „Holocaust“ genannt wird. In der Sowjetunion und in den jüdischen Gemeinschaften der baltischen Staaten und Osteuropas starben viele Millionen Unschuldiger. Dieser europaweite, systematische Massenmord traf auch Behinderte, wegen ihrer sexuellen Orientierung Gebrandmarkte und ethnische Minderheiten wie die Roma. Wir müssen gewährleisten, dass künftige Generationen diese ungeheuren Verbrechen nicht vergessen.
In den 1920er und 1930er Jahren ertönte der Alarm. Unterstützt und ermutigt von den herrschenden Kapitalisten in Europa ging der Faschismus gegen Demokratie und Frieden in die Offensive und suchte den ersten Arbeiterstaat, die Sowjetunion, einzukreisen und zu zerstören.
Die Geschichte wird niemals den faschistischen Staatsstreich in Rom, den Reichstagsbrandbetrug, den Einfall und den Gaskrieg in Abessinien, den faschistischen Putsch in Spanien, den Verrat von München vergessen. Die ganzen 1930er Jahre hindurch kämpften die Kommunisten um die Sammlung der ehrlichen, anständigen, tapferen und demokratisch gesinnten Kräfte zu versammeln, die allein die Flutwelle des Faschismus eindämmen konnten.
Der Sieg wurde mit Opfern erkämpft an Heimat- und Kriegsfronten, zu Land, zur See und in der Luft, in den Betrieben, in Städten und Wäldern, wo sich Widerstand sammelte. Wir gedenken des Sieges als eines Triumphs des Lebens über den Tod, als eines Belegs für die Lebenskraft der Demokratie, der errungen wurde von den arbeitenden Menschen und ihren Verbündeten.
In Nürnberg sprach die Welt ihr Urteil über den Faschismus. Die Losung „Nie wieder“ fand breiten Widerhall. Das Jahr 1945 bedeutete einen entscheidenden Durchbruch zugunsten des Fortschritts, gegen die Kräfte der Reaktion. Die Sowjetunion erstrahlte als Leuchtfeuer der demokratischen Völker und Ansporn der Kämpfe gegen Kolonialismus und Imperialismus. Ein vereinigter Weltbund der Gewerkschaften wurde parallel zu den Vereinten Nationen gegründet. Die UNO-Menschenrechtsdeklaration wurde begeistert aufgenommen.
Wir, die unterzeichneten Kommunistischen Parteien der Russischen Föderation, Britanniens, Frankreichs, der USA und Deutschlands, bekräftigen unseren Stolz auf die heldenhafte Opferbereitschaft unserer Mitglieder und Unterstützer, die in vorderster Front in diesen Kämpfen standen. Die Kommunisten waren die ersten, die in Konzentrationslagern gefoltert wurden, unter den ersten, die in den Ebenen Spaniens kämpften und wenn es wie in Stalingrad erforderlich war,, „keinen Schritt zurück“ gingen.
Siebzig Jahre später sind Faschismus und Rassismus wieder auf dem Vormarsch. Darunter agitierende Provokateure, die die Geschichte des Krieges umschreiben wollen, um heutige Grenzen neu zu ziehen. NATO-Kriegstreiber ermutigen sie dazu.
Dieselbe herrschende Klasse, die vor und während des Zweiten Weltkriegs gegenüber dem Faschismus beschwichtigte und mit ihm kollaborierte, setzt heute Kommunismus und Faschismus gleich.
Starke Kräfte innerhalb der herrschenden Kreise wollen das heutige Russland eingekreist und isoliert sehen. In der Ukraine ist es besonders das Massaker an Gewerkschaftern in Odessa, welches sehr deutlich zeigt, wie die USA, die Europäische Union und die NATO in ihrer Konfrontation mit Russland auf antikommunistische, ultranationalistische und neofaschistische Bewegungen bauen.
Vieles davon soll von der offenkundigen Unfähigkeit des Kapitalismus ablenken, die sozialen Bedürfnisse neuer Generationen bezüglich Arbeit, Gesundheit, Wohnen, Bildung zu befriedigen. Überall ist die Souveränität der Völker in Frage gestellt, Millionen Entwurzelter treiben über die Kontinente auf der verzweifelten Suche nach Frieden, Arbeit und Sicherheit.
Deshalb warnen die Kommunisten erneut vor den tödlichen Gefahren, die das kapitalistische System in der Krise in sich trägt. Die sozialen und politischen Errungenschaften der Zeit nach 1945 werden angegriffen und zurückgenommen. Die Völker Europas müssen wieder auf der Hut sein und bereit, Nationalismus, Rassismus, Faschismus und Militarismus zu bekämpfen, die die kapitalistische Krise und die Sparpolitik hervorbringt.
Wir rufen alle demokratischen, fortschrittlichen und friedvollen Kräfte, die arbeitenden Menschen überall in Europa, die für Frieden, gesellschaftliche Gerechtigkeit und für Freiheit gegen die Tyrannei kämpfen, auf, in diesem historischen Kampf für eine neue und gerechte Ordnung, für den Sozialismus, ihre Rolle zu spielen.

Déclaration commune à l'occasion du 70e anniversaire de la victoire de la liberté sur la barbarie nazie
Le 8 mai 2015 marque le 70e anniversaire de la victoire de la liberté sur la tyrannie fasciste et nazie en Europe. Cette victoire a été possible grâce à l’alliance des peuples d'Union soviétique, de Grande-Bretagne, des États-Unis, de France et des forces de la résistance notamment communiste à travers toute l'Europe, la Chine et l'Asie du Sud-est.
Le bilan de morts et de destruction a dépassé de loin tout ce que l’humanité avait jamais connu. Des millions de soldats ont perdu la vie mais la population civile a payé le plus lourd tribut. La sauvagerie des nazis et leurs alliés a laissé une tache sombre sur l'histoire de l’humanité pour toujours.
Tout écolier peut faire le lien entre l'hitlérisme et l'Holocauste. Dans l'Union soviétique et parmi les communautés juives des États baltes et d'Europe orientale, en particulier, dans toutes l'Europe des dizaines de millions d'innocents ont péri.
Ces tueries systématiques à travers l'Europe ont aussi frappé les personnes handicapées, ou stigmatisées pour leur orientation sexuelle, ainsi que des communautés ethniques minoritaires tels que les Roms. Nous devons nous assurer que la jeunesse des générations futures n’oublie pas ces crimes monstrueux.
L’alerte avait été lancée dans les années 1920 et 1930. Aidé et encouragé par les classes dirigeantes capitalistes à travers l'Europe, le fascisme a pris l'offensive contre la démocratie et la paix, et a cherché à encercler et détruire le premier État ouvrier, l'Union soviétique.
L’histoire n’oubliera pas le coup d’État fasciste à Rome, l’incendie frauduleux du Reichstag, l'invasion et le gazage d'Abyssinie, le putsch fasciste en Espagne, ni la trahison de Munich. Tout au long des années 1930, les communistes ont œuvré à rassembler les forces courageuses, honnêtes, et démocratiques qui seules pouvaient endiguer la marée de la barbarie.
La victoire est arrivée grâce aux sacrifices des familles et des combattants sur les fronts terrestres, maritimes et aériens mais aussi de toutes les forces de la résistance où elles se trouvaient, dans les usines, les villes et les forêts.
C‘est ainsi que nous nous souvenons de la victoire : le triomphe de la vie sur la mort et l'affirmation de la vitalité de la démocratie, combat conduit par les travailleurs eux-mêmes, et leurs alliés.
À Nüremberg, le monde a condamné le fascisme. L'expression « Never Again » a trouvé un écho populaire. L'année 1945 a marqué un tournant décisif en faveur du progrès et contre les forces de la réaction.
La défaite du fascisme et du nazisme, et le rôle déterminant de l'Union soviétique ont eu un impact immense sur les forces démocratiques et sur les peuples qui, dans le monde entier, se battaient contre le colonialisme et l'impérialisme.
La Fédération syndicale mondiale a été créée en même temps que l'Organisation des Nations unies. La Déclaration universelle des Droits de l'homme a été largement adoptée.
Les partis communistes de Russie, de Grande-Bretagne, de France, des Etats-Unis et d'Allemagne, sommes fiers des sacrifices héroïques des générations d'alors de nos membres et sympathisants qui étaient aux premiers rangs de la lutte. Les communistes ont été les premiers à être torturés dans les camps de concentration ; ils étaient parmi les premiers à se porter volontaires pour combattre dans les vallées de l'Espagne ; à Stalingrad leur ténacité a tenu bon quand il était impératif de ne pas faire « un pas en arrière ! »
Soixante-dix ans plus tard, le fascisme et le racisme agitent de nouveau leurs drapeaux sinistres. Des provocateurs cherchent à réécrire l'histoire de la guerre afin qu'ils puissent redessiner les frontières géographiques actuelles. Et les chefs de guerre de l'OTAN les y encouragent.
Les mêmes classes dirigeantes qui ont collaboré avec les fascistes avant et pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale affirment aujourd'hui une équivalence entre le communisme et les fascisme et nazisme.
Il y a des forces puissantes dans les cercles dirigeants qui souhaitent voir la Russie moderne coupée du monde et isolée. En Ukraine, le massacre de syndicalistes à Odessa montre très clairement comment les États-Unis, l'Union européenne et l'OTAN s’appuient sur les mouvements anticommunistes, ultranationalistes et néo-fascistes dans leur confrontation avec la Russie.
Il s’agit d’autant de manœuvres pour détourner l'attention de l'échec chronique du capitalisme : les politiques sociales, d’emploi, de santé, de logement, d’éducation ne répondent pas aux besoins des jeunes générations.
Partout, la souveraineté des peuples est remise en cause ; par millions, les personnes déracinées fuient à travers les continents dans une recherche désespérée de paix, de travail et de sécurité.
Nous voulons alerter des dangers mortels portés par un système capitaliste en crise. Les acquis sociaux et politiques gagnés suite à la victoire de 1945 sont attaqués et enrayés. Les peuples d'Europe doivent, à nouveau, être vigilants et lutter contre le chauvinisme, le racisme, le fascisme et le militarisme qui se reproduisent dans des conditions de crise capitaliste et l'austérité.
Nous appelons toutes les forces démocratiques, progressistes et pacifiques, les femmes et hommes, travailleurs, à travers l'Europe, femmes et hommes qui se battent pour la paix et la justice sociale, pour la liberté et contre la tyrannie, à s'unir, à prendre part pleinement dans la lutte de notre époque pour une société d'égalité et de justice sociales.
