For the way out of the EU and NATO, for the working class
30 years ago, Felipe Gonzalez, the same person who is now the spearhead of imperialism against the Bolivarian process in Venezuela, signed the Treaty of Accession of Spain to the EEC (European Economic Community). The same person who would sign, a year later and after the deception of the people, the entry of Spain into NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization)
For PCPE, the imperialist character of what today is the EU (European Union) has always been clear. It is a natural product of the development of European capitalism. It is an interstate alliance of monopoly capital, therefore an enemy of the interests of the working class and peoples.
The EEC was created in response to the needs of monopoly capital to adapt the domination system to their demands. Capital, in its historical development, tends to the creation of monopolies and to dismantle the capitalist free competition; this same capital today imposes its laws more dictatorially than ever before, making a shrinking oligarchy submit the working class to a brutal exploitation.
The EU is promoting a huge process of concentration and centralization of capital, which seeks to improve the relative position of the European-based monopolies in the stark struggle taking place worldwide for control of sources of raw materials, tjheir transport routes and the markets.
It's the same reason why NATO plans and systematically executes the bloodiest plundering of the peoples that humanity has ever lived. NATO is another big imperialist alliance where Spain is inserted, and in which the military bases in our territory play an increasingly important role in the attack on the Middle East and Africa. As a recent example of the Spanish government, we have the expanded agreement on the base of Morón.
For the working class and popular sectors, the consequences of the entry of Spain into the EU have been clear. It has meant the progressive dismantling of industry (steel, mining, shipbuilding), the destruction of much of the small farming and livestock production, the constant loss of social and labour rights and an impoverishment of the living standards of the workers' and people's majority, which accelerated with the adoption of the Euro. While poverty wages are widespread, prices rise, public services are dismantled, pensions are privatized and the retirement age is increased, the control and repression against the popular classes increase and workers' struggles are criminalized.
The latest measures announced by the IMF and recently supported by the Bank of Spain, do not express anything else than the logic of monopolies; more health and education "copayment", further lowering of dismissal costs and precarious contracts, increase in indirect taxes ... that is, increase of the rate of exploitation and robbery of the working class and people. This is all that capitalism in its decaying phase can offer today.
PCPE also firmly struggles against those positions who want to convince the working class that the EU can be beneficial to the people, that capitalism can be managed on behalf of workers and there is a way out of the crisis within capitalism and the EU. Some of these positions even pose a kind of return to a pre-monopoly stage of capitalism. And this is absolutely false and idealistic, because they ignore the objective reality and the very same laws of capitalist development, as the process in Greece is showig.
PCPE will continue struggling for the way out of Spain from the EU, the Euro and NATO, essential and inevitable step for the seizure of political power by the working class and the socialist construction. Therefore, on this anniversary in which the bourgeois media deploy a major propaganda campaign, the communists have nothing to celebrate, but much to fight for and everything to conquer until we put an end to capitalism and build socialism and communism on its ruins.

30 años de dictadura de los monopolios, 30 años de la entrada de España en la CEE
Por la salida de la UE y la OTAN, por la clase obrera
Hace 30 años, Felipe González, el mismo que hoy es punta de lanza del imperialismo contra el proceso bolivariano en Venezuela, firmaba el Tratado de Adhesión de España a la CEE (Comunidad Económica Europea). El mismo que, también un año después, firmaría, tras el engaño al pueblo, la entrada de España en la OTAN (Organización del Tratado del Atlántico Norte).
El PCPE siempre ha tenido claro el carácter imperialista de lo que hoy es la UE (Unión Europea), producto natural del desarrollo del capitalismo europeo. Una alianza interestatal del capital monopolista, por tanto enemiga de los intereses de la clase obrera y los pueblos.
La CEE nace como respuesta a las necesidades del capital monopolista de adaptar el sistema de dominación a sus exigencias. El capital, en su desarrollo histórico, tiende a la creación de monopolios y a hacer desaparecer la libre competencia capitalista; ese mismo capital hoy impone sus leyes de forma más dictatorial que nunca, haciendo que una cada vez más reducida oligarquía someta a la clase obrera a una brutal explotación.
La UE está favoreciendo un enorme proceso de concentración y centralización de capital, que busca mejorar la posición relativa de los monopolios con base europea en la lucha descarnada que a nivel internacional se produce por el control de las fuentes de materias primas, sus rutas de transporte y los mercados.
Es la misma razón por la que la OTAN planifica y ejecuta sistemáticamente el más sangriento expolio de los pueblos que ha vivido la humanidad. Otra gran alianza imperialista donde España está inserta, y en la que las bases militares en nuestro territorio juegan cada vez un papel más importante, tanto para la agresión a Oriente Próximo como a África. Sirva como ejemplo reciente de implicación del gobierno español, la ampliación del acuerdo de la base de Morón.
Para la clase obrera y los sectores populares, las consecuencias de la entrada de España en la UE han sido claras. Ha significado el desmantelamiento progresivo de la industria (siderurgia, minería, astilleros), la destrucción de gran parte de la pequeña producción agrícola y ganadera, la pérdida constante de derechos sociales y laborales y un empobrecimiento del nivel de vida de la mayoría obrera y popular, que se aceleró con la adopción del euro. Mientras se generalizan los salarios de miseria, los precios suben, se desmantelan los servicios públicos, se privatizan las pensiones y aumenta la edad de jubilación, aumenta el control y la represión contra las clases populares y se criminalizan las luchas obreras.
Las últimas medidas anunciadas por el FMI, y apoyadas recientemente por el Banco de España, no expresan más que la lógica de los monopolios; más “copago” sanitario y educativo, todavía más abaratamiento del despido y contratos basura, aumento de los impuestos indirectos... es decir, aumento de la tasa de explotación y robo a la clase obrera y al pueblo trabajador. Esto es lo único que el capitalismo en su fase en descomposición hoy puede ofrecer.
El PCPE también lucha firmemente contra aquellas posiciones que quieren hacer creer a la clase obrera que la UE puede ser beneficiosa para los pueblos, que el capitalismo se puede gestionar a favor de los trabajadores y que hay salida a la crisis dentro del capitalismo y la UE. Algunas de estas posiciones incluso plantean una especie de retorno a una fase premonopolista del capitalismo. Y esto es absolutamente falaz e idealista, porque ignoran la realidad objetiva y las propias leyes del desarrollo capitalista, como está demostrando el proceso en Grecia.
El PCPE seguirá luchando por la salida de España de la UE, el euro y la OTAN, elemento esencial e ineludible para la toma del poder político por la clase obrera y la construcción del socialismo. Por eso, en este aniversario en que los medios de comunicación burgueses despliegan una importante campaña de propaganda, los y las comunistas no tenemos nada que celebrar, pero sí mucho por lo que luchar y todo por conquistar, hasta acabar con el capitalismo y construir sobre sus escombros el socialismo y el comunismo.
