Military sharpshooters shot into a crowd of protesters in an incident apparently initiated by the president of the de facto Congress, Congressman Marvin Ponce viciously beaten and shot at (currently being treated for two bullet wounds and internal injuries, Congress turned into virtual concentration camp.

It is particularly painful to write these words when they refer to Marvin Ponce, whom I know and deeply respect. He was in D.C. about a month ago, where I accompanied him to two events where he spoke out against the many human rights violations that had already occurred at that point. Several other delegation members and their families, as with Congressman Trochez, have been attacked with lethal intent for speaking out internationally against the military coup.

What will it take, Obama, for you to take a stand against these atrocities? I couldn't give a damn about Valenzuela's confirmation. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a stand-up fellow, but if you had a spine you could get him confirmed and actively oppose the targeted assassinations and state terror tactics being used by SOA-trained soldiers in Honduras. This would be an easy PR battle if so much of Hillary Clinton's dirty money weren't riding on it. I don't want to have to write tomorrow that one of my friends has been killed, because the U.S. government is too corrupt to follow its own laws. This is a vile, filthy system, with too much Central American blood already on its hands.
