Why is a surviving member of the Neocon clique who served under George W. Bush, appointed to such a key position as the European file in the State Department by Obama?
(BTW her husband is Robert Kagan, one of the best-known ideologues of the neocon group).

Obama has a mixed bag of former Bush neocons and liberal interventionists like Samantha Power in State and his Foreign Affairs portfolio. At first the eclecticism of the Obama team may seem bizarre. But let's face it, foreign policy is something in which Obama has never shown much concentrated interest. And when the rubber hits the road the neocons and liberal interventionists are pro-imperialist ideological 'cousins'. Six of one, half-dozen of the other, in any case a dangerous 'team' is playing for Obama's administration.
