SEEING RED (full video) a 1983 docu interview film on CPUSA 1930s-50s

SEEING RED is a 1983 American documentary film (1hr and 41 min.) directed by Jim Klein and Julia Reichert for Facets Multimedia, a progressive media group in Chicago . It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature .. The documentary film looks at the political activities and activism of Americans who were members or supporters of the American Communist Party in the 1930s and 40s primarily. It is based on interviews with people who were active in the CPUSA in the 30s and 40s, and were mostly elderly by the time the documentary was made. Anyone who attended the 30th National Convention of the CPUSA in Chicago on June 13-15 of this year would have been disabused of any notion that the American party is passé by the very lively participation of a whole cohort of dynamic young people.. In any case Seeing RED is one of the first non-fiction films to examine the role of a third political party in the United States.

ENJOY!
