Iraqi CP condemned the violence against protesters
Iraqi Communist Party released a statement denouncing the police violence against the recent protests took stage in the Tahrir Square.

Iraqi Communist Party (ICP) released a statement regarding the police violence against the recent demonstrations took place in the Tahrir Square, central Bagdad. Protesters allegedly supporting Moqtada al-Sadr, demanded a new electoral commission and called upon the parliament to pass a new election law. The police forces attacked violently to the protesters, claiming that they were intended to storm the Green Zone which houses government buildings, international organizations and embassies. The protesters stated that they were not going to storm the Green Zone and explained that they were near the Zone in order to reach their voices to the authorities.
The ICP strictly condemned the police violence against the peaceful protests and reminded that the right to protest is guaranteed by the law and the Constitution. Iraqi Communists also stated that they hold the Prime Minister responsible for the murders during the demonstration and asked for setting up an investigative committee that also include representatives of the protesters.
